Civilian contractor dies aboard Norfolk Navy ship

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A civilian contractor died aboard the USS San Jacinto on Wednesday morning, according to U.S. Navy officials.

Officials pronounced the civilian contractor deceased around 10 a.m. while aboard the guided missile cruiser, according to an email from Navy spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson.

Hillson confirmed that the Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the civilian contractor’s death.

The USS San Jacinto is stationed in Naval Station Norfolk.
