HENRICO COUNTY, Va., (WRIC) —  Dozens of high school robotics teams spent the first weekend in March competing at Deep Run High School.

Teams were assigned a challenge in January.

The competition teaches students STEM concepts, problm solving, leadership, and team building skills.

From Central Virginia, 20 teams participated hoping to be crowned champion.

“Organize a few outreach activities,” said Deep Run High School student Emily Woodard. “I actually got to talk to our school board. And just gaining these new life skills that I never thought I would learn until I actually got a job. But I l already know them.”

The championship team will compete in April at George Mason University.
