FORT LEE, Va. – Soldiers and their families were forced out of their homes after a duplex fire at Fort Lee military base Saturday afternoon.
No one was injured.
Fire and emergency services personnel from Fort Lee responded to a blaze in the 1700 block of Cold Harbor Court in the Harrison Villa neighborhood of Fort Lee Family Housing just after 12: 15 p.m.
The fire was fully extinguished. The duplex home was severely damaged, however.
The soldiers and their families residing in the homes have been provided temporary lodging. The Amerian Red Cross was called to assist as well.
Both Petersburg and Hopewell fire departments provided support during the response.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
