Firefighter injured in Dinwiddie County house fire

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A firefighter was injured while battling a house fire in Dinwiddie County Sunday evening. 

Crews were called to the house located in the 9000 block of Boydton Plank Road just after 5 p.m. 

Firefighters found the single-story home with heavy smoke and fire showing from the back. All residents were able to escape before firefighters arrived. 

Crews were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes. One firefighter received a minor injury.  

The American Cross is helping the residents of the house, which was significantly damaged in the fire. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
