RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — More than 100 teens received a free heart screening Saturday at the University of Richmond.
For the third straight year, the Ryan Lopynski Big Heart Foundation offered the screening to young people in the area.
Ryan died from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2009.
“An EKG takes five minutes,” said John Lopynski.” It’s just you hook up a couple of electrodes and we check the electrical system of your heart. It’s the first screening to detect potential sudden cardiac arrest issues.”
Of the 150 screens, four potentially serious heart problems were found.
