Fredericksburg Police looking for attempted robbery suspect

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., (WRIC) — Fredericksburg Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a gas station Sunday morning. 

Police tell 8News around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning an unknown black male walked into the Sunoco Gas Station on 201 Jefferson Davis Highway.

The man tried rob the cash register but was unsuccessful. 

The suspect told the store clerk he had a weapon. 

Police say the man was dropped off and picked up from the gas station in a large black SUV with damage to the right-side passenger doors. 

The suspect is descried as a tall, thin, black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a black hooded jacket. 

Officers set up a perimeter around the store. 

A detective was called to investigate the incident along with a K-9 officer.
