RICHMOND, Va (WFXR) – To show respect and remember the victims and families of the Virginia Tech shooting, Governor Ralph Northam has ordered flags fly at half-staff on Tuesday.

Based on the order, flags will be flown at half-staff across the Commonwealth to honor the entire Virginia Tech community on the anniversary of the April 16, 2007 tragedy.

32 students and faculty members’ lives were taken when a gunman opened fire on the campus.

Several exhibits have opened around campus as the campus honors the lives lost.

The 12th Annual Remembrance Blood Drive will be held at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, starting at 11 Tuesday morning.

Flags will be lowered at sunrise and remain there until sunset.
