RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- GRTC will offer free rides to veterans on Sunday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day.
Any veteran with proof of military service can ride free all day long on Veterans Day. CARE veteran customers may also receive a free ride on CARE when scheduling and by showing proof of veterans’ status.
"GRTC is grateful to honor veterans in our communities and among our riders," GRTC Interim CEO Charlie Mitchell said in a release. "We are committed to responding to the needs of the communities we serve, following the examples set by veterans who responded to the needs of the country they served.”
The following forms of proof of military service will be accepted in exchange for a free ride: military ID card (active/reserve/retired); VA ID card; current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES); driver’s license with veterans designation; photograph in uniform; wearing uniform (if service permits); veterans organization card (e.g., VFW); or DD214 (discharge paperwork).
