RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department said officers were called to River City Middle School on Thursday for an armed person report.
Police said they found a 13-year-old with a firearm in their backpack and confiscated it from them. The 8th grader was taken into custody.
The middle school student now faces the following charges:
- possession of a firearm on school property
- possession of a firearm by a minor
- possession of a concealed weapon
- possession of marijuana
RPD said there is no active threat to the community.
