HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities say the crash that shut down a portion of Pole Green Road in Hanover County Tuesday afternoon was fatal.

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says a driver, identified as Jacob Michael Stafford, was killed and the other driver received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

At 11:09 a.m., authorities responded to the 6000 block of Pole Green Road for reports of a two-vehicle crash.

An investigation revealed that a Chevrolet hatchback driven by Stafford was moving east on Pole Green Road and then crossed into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle collided head-on with a Toyota sport utility vehicle. Stafford, 22, of Aylett, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the crash.
