Police: 2 pedestrians suffer serious injuries after being hit at Ashland intersection

ASHLAND, Va. (WRIC) -- Police are investigating a crash that took place at an Ashland intersection and sent two pedestrians to the hospital with serious injuries on Monday. 

The collision occurred at 9:24 p.m. at the intersection of England Street, Route 54, and South Taylor Street, police said. 

An investigation from Ashland Police revealed that the driver was traveling east on England Street when they struck two pedestrians who were crossing the road at a designated crosswalk.

The two people who were hit suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries, Ashland Police said. 

The driver, unidentified by police, was charged with failure to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
