Spirit of Meg Menzies grabs Facebook’s attention

Hanover County

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A social media page dedicated to a Hanover County mother who was killed in 2014 has captured the attention of Facebook.

The ‘Meg’s Miles supporters’ Facebook page has more than 16,000 followers. And the people who run it got an exclusive invite to the social media giant’s first community summit.

“If we can learn some different things from other group administrators to make our group better, to spread Meg’s spirit even better than we do, because in my mind, if the whole world could treat each other like we treat each other in that group then I think it would at least be a better place,” one of the page’s administrators, Keith Cartwright, said.

Menzies was killed by a drunk driver while out for a run. Her Facebook group is one of just 100 that were invited to the summit.
