HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Crews from Henrico Fire received a tip from a citizen on Thursday afternoon about baby ducks trapped eight feet down a retention pond overflow drain.

The drain was located at the Creeks at Virginia Center shopping complex near Brook Road, according to a Facebook post from Henrico County Division of Fire.

Henrico crews were called to the area but Station 21, who initially responded, required the water rescue dry suits from Henrico County Fire Station 1.

Crews gained entry to the access ladder in the retention pond overflow drain and got the little ducklings out safely.

Once they were retrieved, the ducklings were reunited with their mother and siblings.
