HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A power outage forced Gayton Elementary School to open on a two-hour delay on Thursday.

Henrico Public Schools’ spokesperson Andy Jenks said a vehicle crash knocked out power to the school and some of the surrounding neighborhoods.

At about 8:30 a.m., Jenks announced that the power was restored but the two-hour delayed opening remained in place.

“I’m happy to share that the power is back on at the school. The two-hour delay still stands. This means that buses will pick up students two hours later than the normal morning pickup time. Afternoon dismissal will take place at the usual time.”

At one point, nearly 850 Dominion Energy customers were without in Henrico, according to their outage website
