Police identify 2 victims found murdered at Henrico apartment complex

Henrico County

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police in Henrico are investigating separate murders that occurred at the same apartment complex on Sunday.

Police said at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers were called to two suspicious deaths at the 11 North at White Oak apartments complex on Laburnum Avenue.

Investigators later determined that both victims had been murdered, but do not believe that their deaths are related.

The first victim, who was found inside a unit in the 500 block of N. Laburnum Avenue, has been identified as 43-year-old Ralph Haskins of Henrico County.

The second victim, who was found in another unit in the 300 block of N. Laburnum Avenue, was identified Tuesday as 58-year-old Roma Harris.

A spokesperson for Henrico County Public Schools confirms Harris spent a total of nine years with the school district, including six of them as a custodian at Donahoe Elementary School in Sandston.

No other information has been released at this time.

Residents are troubled by the lack of details and some told 8News how they felt after hearing gunshots on Sunday.

“When I heard the gunshots,” said Jarrell Pate, a resident at the apartment complex. “It kind of scared me. I was sitting in my car, I heard them and immediately said, it’s time to go in the house. It’s time to go in the house.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Henrico Police or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
