HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A neighborhood in Eastern Henrico County is on edge Monday morning after residents say several cars were broken into and stolen.
Residents on Elmshadow Drive told 8News that they feel violated after teenagers rummaged through their cars and stole their personal belongings.
Henrico County Police confirmed that at least one car was stolen.
A resident said eight families were affected. She added that three cars were stolen Sunday night, while others had wallets, work IDs, and clothing taken from their vehicles.
The resident told 8News that around 11 p.m., a neighbor frantically banged on her door, saying her car was stolen. When that neighbor checked on her own car, she noticed her light was on and glove compartment open. They immediately called the police.
While waiting for officers to arrive, they heard voices and saw flashlights down the street of whom they believe to be the thieves. Henrico Police confirmed that two teenagers were arrested. Residents believe more were involved.
Residents also say that the majority of the vehicles broken into were unlocked.
