HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A driver has been charged after a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 295 South caused a ramp closure in Sandston.

Shortly after 1:45 p.m., Virginia State Police troopers were called to the 28A exit on I-295 South, a couple of miles north of the Route 895 exit.

According to police, a tractor-trailer driver had been speeding when they entered the exit ramp. As a result, the tractor-trailer reportedly skidded and hit the jersey wall before overturning and blocking the entire ramp.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The driver has also been issued a summons for reckless driving, according to police.

The south right lane and exit ramp 28A have been closed. Drivers in the area can expect delays, according to VDOT.
