BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A horse was killed by a falling tree in Brunswick County Friday night.

Brunswick County Sheriff Brian Roberts told 8News it happened at a pasture along Evans Creek Road in the town of Broadnax. He said a couple of barns were also damaged.

Roughly a half mile down the road, another downed tree damaged a home, though there are no reports of any injuries, sheriff Roberts confirmed.

Sheriff Roberts added that there is significant damage across the country and speculated that it may have been caused by a tornado.

The National Weather Service has not confirmed that a tornado touched down.
