PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg is working to figure out what caused a hot water pipe to burst Saturday morning.

In a statement, the center says the pipe burst above a patients room on the third floor, and staff were able to quickly remove that person safely.

A nurse did suffer minor burns, but was later released.

Patients on the second floor were also moved to other room due to the burst.

The water has since been shut off and cleanup is underway.
