Local toddler who defied odds at birth named national ambassador for AHA

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A Fredericksburg boy who was born with multiple heart defects and underwent his first open heart surgery as an infant has been selected to serve as a national ambassador for the American Heart Association. 

8News first introduced you to Finn Blumenthal in February 2017. He came come after an 8-month stay in the hospital that included 10 surgeries. Tens of thousands of people began following his journey on social media. 

Nearly two years later, Finn has been named ambassador for the new ‘Kids Heart Challenge,’ an educational and fundraising program aimed at teaching kids about their heart.
