Local News

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Waynesboro man was killed and an infant was injured following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Louisa County Monday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, a man was driving a Nissan SUV on I-64 west just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday, when he hit a disabled vehicle that was pulled over on the shoulder.

The Nissan then overturned several times before going off the road. A Honda CRV hit debris from the crash and was also damaged.

The male driver of the Nissan — who has been identified as 56-year-old Kenneth T. Owens, of Waynesboro — was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV, state police said. He died from his injuries at the scene.

An infant in that Nissan was taken to the hospital by helicopter for minor injuries and is expected to recover.

No one else was injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
