PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Authorities in Virginia believe a man fatally shot his wife and their 12-year-old son before killing himself.

Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office say 42-year-old Twana Rhodes Davis, a 12-year-old boy with the initials RKD and 44-year-old Jason Owen Davis was found dead Friday night.

Jason Owen Davis was found near a firearm and is believed to be the shooter. Davis is also the father of the 12-year-old boy.

Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor says the boy’s body was found in what appeared to be a bedroom. He says the two adults were found in the kitchen. The shooting took place in the town of Hurt, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) east of Roanoke, in the 3100 block of Shula Drive.

Two other women were hospitalized after being shot inside a vehicle: 64-year-old Patricia R. Poindexter and 62-year-old Deborah Isabel Rhodes.

Authorities say that Jason Owen Davis fired multiple rounds both inside and outside of the house, some of which hit the car containing both Poindexter and Rhodes.

Deputies say that the women drove to a nearby store, where a bystander noticed the damage and alerted police, who arrived in about 10 minutes.

The investigation is ongoing.
