RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A new treatment facility is helping Central Virginians “Fight the Fix.”

Pinnacle Treatment Center opened a Richmond location Thursday. The family is working to make recovery from opioid addiction affordable and helps family members detect signs of addiction in loved ones.

Pinnacle says it’s doing away with the idea that the cycle of recovery is 28 days.

“The patient stays in treatment as long as they need to be in treatment and hopefully they’ll continue they’ll continue their own recovery and learn how to do that while in the treatment process,” said Dr. Martin Buxton, Regional Medical Director.

The Virginia Department of Health says about 1,100 Virginians are killed by heroin or fentanyl use each year.

Drug overdose is the leading cause of unnatural death in Commonwealth.
