Prince William County Police Department collects over 800 pounds of prescription drugs

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Prince William County Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit collected over 880.3 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs this weekend.

The unused and/or expired prescription drugs were collected as part of the DEA’s National Drug Take-Back event.

The police department worked two of the three locations in Prince William County.

According to the DEA, the event addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue.

Collection of these drugs helps prevent drug addictions and overdoses.
