RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — One person is dead after having a medical emergency when their apartment caught on fire.
The Richmond Fire Department was called to the Dominion Place on 1025 W. Grace Street for a cooking fire inside one of the senior apartments. There was one person inside the apartment suffering from a medical emergency.

The patient was taken to the hospital, where they died. Investigators are working to determine the cause of death. At this time, it’s unclear if the victim’s death is related to the fire.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
