RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — There were multiple shootings throughout Richmond over the weekend, two of them deadly.
The Richmond Police Department is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting on Sunday, March 5. The man was found with a gunshot wound in the 1400 block of Harwood Street shortly before 6 p.m., according to police. He later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Later that same night, at approximately 7:39 p.m., Richmond Police Department officers were called to the 4100 block of Hull Street for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a Davonte Straus, 22, of Richmond dead in the drive-thru lane of a fast food restaurant in Southside Plaza. He had an apparent gunshot wound, but his official cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner.
These were not Sunday’s only shootings. Early on Sunday, a woman was shot near a gas station in Shockoe bottom. According to police, she was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be okay.
