RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A vehicle crash on Interstate 95 caused lane closures and delays in Richmond.

The crash was first reported by VDOT around 6:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, and was located on I-95 North near the Leigh Street viaduct.

According to VDOT, the north center lane, right lane and right shoulder were closed. At one point, there was a six-mile-long backup.

“A pickup changed lanes into the path of a VW SUV that was traveling above a safe speed, causing the VW SUV to rear-end the pickup,” said a spokesperson from Virginia State Police. “The VW SUV then overcorrected and overturned.”

There were no reported injuries and police say charges are pending at this time.

VDOT marked the scene as clear and reopened all lanes around 8:15 a.m.
