Crash on I-95 North in downtown Richmond clear

UPDATE: According to VDOT, the lanes have reopened and the scene is clear.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A crash on Interstate 95 North is causing a significant backup in downtown and Southside Richmond.

According to Virginia Department of Transportation, the crash took place at mile marker 74.6, just before the East Broad Street exit. The left and right lanes are both currently closed.

Northbound traffic is currently backed up past the Maury Street exit. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.
