Driver strikes pole, ending police chase in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man was transported to the hospital late Tuesday night after he crashed his car during a police chase in Richmond. 

Police told 8News that officers tried to the pull the driver over at Pollack St. and 3rd Ave. for reckless driving, but he instead drove off for about three blocks before striking a pole in the 3000 block of 3rd Ave. 

The man is expected to recover, police say, and charges against him are pending.
