RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond City Sheriff’s Office on Thursday installed a drug collection unit.
CVS donated the unit, located at the Richmond City Justice Center’s front lobby, as part of its Safer Communities Program.
Unwanted, unused and expired medication can be disposed of safely in the unit.
“Make sure we protect our young people and protect our senior citizens from people trying to get into their homes in reference to prescription medications and we want to make sure we have space available in the neighborhood so they drop off their medications,” Richmond Sheriff Antionette Irving said.
The disposal site is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
