RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Early winter storms are creating pothole nightmares on local streets and highways.
Only 17 days into the New Year and the City of Richmond has already fixed thousands.
“I’m surprised my tires haven’t popped yet, some of them are pretty bad,” Noah Kennedy said of Richmond’s streets.
The craters are not just a hazard for tires.
“Not usually the tires but the suspension,” Richmonder Dave Macdonald said. “It’s just rough on the vehicle.”
The city says there are ways you can help them complete their annual ‘Pothole Palooza,’ like using the free RVA311 app that allows residents to report a pothole. You can do the same at richmondgov.com.
And should your vehicle ever sustain damage from a pothole, you can file a claim with the city; just make sure you take a picture of the pothole right after you hit it and take your car to a shop the same day and save all the paperwork.
