VCU sends alert after armed robbery reported on campus


RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Commonwealth University and Richmond Police are searching for the man who they say robbed someone at gunpoint on campus early Friday morning. 

Just after 4 a.m., police responded to the 800 block of W. Broad Street near Gilmer Street for a report of an armed robbery. 

The victim told police that the suspect approached him, took out a black handgun and said, “I need money to feed my daughter and I need money now.”

The suspect took $20 and fled west on Broad Street on a blue and white bicycle, police say. 

The suspect is described as a black male, 40-50 years old with grey hair. He was wearing a black shirt, black shorts and a black ball cap.
