Young girl grazed by bullet in East End shooting

Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC ) — Authorities say a young girl was grazed by a bullet inside a home on Richmond’s East End early Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the home on the 1700 block of N. 29th Street around 4:30 a.m.

According to police, a gunman shot into the home from the outside. A bullet then grazed the girl, who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were on the scene for two hours searching for evidence and interviewing residents to find out what led to the shooting.

Residents told 8News that this violence has to do with Creighton Court located nearby. Last year, a man was murdered just one street up from this incident.

“It woke me up out my sleep and I didn’t know a child was involved, but that really bothered me because I have my own daughter … I don’t get it,” a resident said.

Suspect information was not immediately available. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
