Storms bring down trees, power lines across Central Virginia

Local News

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Although the rain has stopped, the impact of recent storms is being felt throughout the region. Damaged property, downed power lines and trees have caused issues for many across Central Virginia.

A tree fell on Scherer Drive in Chesterfield Sunday night and brought a power line down with it. This is due to the ground being oversaturated from the heavy rainfall.

Since last Monday, some parts of Central Virginia have received 9.76 inches of rain.

As of 11 a.m. Monday, roughly 300 Dominion Energy customers are without power across Richmond, Henrico County and Chesterfield County.

With the ground still saturated, it’s possible the region could see more damages. If you come across a downed power line, be sure to immediately notify Dominion Energy.
