Storms, heavy rain hit Central Virginia

Local News

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — While Friday’s storms in Virginia are not expected to match last week’s, locals should be aware of what could come to their area.

The storm system could result in damaging wind gusts and even isolated tornadoes.

8News viewers have already shared photos of flooded roads in Richmond and there have been reports of damaged power lines in the area.

A severe thunderstorm watch will be in effect until 9 p.m. in the metro area and some residents, particularly in the northeast, will see a tornado watch.
