HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — The City of Hopewell will hold a grand opening for Hopewell Riverwalk on Saturday, April 6 and 1 p.m. at City Park.
Hopewell Riverwalk is a boardwalk that originates in City Park and follows the shoreline of the Appomattox River towards the Hopewell City Marina.
It has two prominent overlooks and railings along the walkway. This offers visitors an opportunity to engage with nature and the city’s valuable rivers.
The boardwalk is eight feet wide and the length is 1,700-ft.
Hopewell Riverwalk is for pedestrians only.”The Hopewell Riverwalk offers beautiful views of historic City Point and the meeting point between the James River and Appomattox Rivers,” said Aaron Reidmiller, Director of Hopewell Recreation and Parks.
The waterfront is the home to bald eagles, herons, and a variety of waterfowl.
This grand opening celebrates the completion of the first phase of this project. Phase two will connect the Hopewell City Marina to phase one.
City Park is located at 205 Appomattox Street. The event is open to the public.
