UPDATE: According to VDOT, all lanes have reopened and the scene is clear.

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — A tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 95 South in Colonial Heights is causing a significant backup which extends into Chesterfield County.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the crash took place at mile marker 53, just before the Appomattox River.

The southbound left and center lanes are both closed and traffic is currently backed up nearly to the Woods Edge Road interchange in Chesterfield.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.
