Meeting Monday in Hopewell to discuss rising COVID-19 cases in public schools

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Hopewell Public Schools is hosting a town hall for parents on Monday to talk about rising COVID-19 cases there.

The first day of school was July 26, and since then, the district has reported 33 COVID-19 cases among students and staff. The district’s dashboard shows three of those cases were likely contracted in a school setting.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Hopewell High School auditorium. It immediately follows a closed school board meeting slated for 5:30.

The meeting is open to the public, and public comment will be heard.
