Minor taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries from motorcycle crash in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The Petersburg Police department said a vehicle crash at the intersection of Rome and West Street caused traffic delays on Thursday.

The department said the crash involved a motorcycle and they are currently investigating the incident. An officer who witnessed the crash happen and said it was caused by an juvenile male.

The minor was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. As of 7 p.m. he was still in the hospital for treatment.

Because of this, PPD said drivers should expect delays in the area. Rome Street and West Street reopened at 7:10 p.m.

Petersburg police tweeted a reminder on Thursday that dirt bikes should not be driven on public roads unless they are “properly equipped and registered.”
