Wanted Virginia man found hiding behind boxes in attic

PATRICK COUNTY, Va (WFXR) – A Martinsville man was arrested on Tuesday just before noon in Patrick County. 

According to the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Jason Ramon Wooden was wanted on felony charges after breaking into a home in the Five Forks area.

Deputies received a tip that Wooden was reportedly staying with a woman in an apartment in the 100 block of West Blue Ridge Street. Authorities searched the apartment with permission from the resident. 

Wooden could be heard moving in the attic of the apartment. He was ordered to leave the attic space, when he refused the department’s tactical response team used chemical agents before entering. Wooden was found hiding behind several stacked boxes then arrested. 

Wooden was on the run for three weeks. He is charged with grand larceny, breaking and entering of a residence, and obstruction of justice. 

40-year-old Julia Lucian Hutchens, the resident of the apartment Wooden was hiding in, was also charged with obstruction of justice.
