DALLAS, TX (WRIC) — A day removed from hearing his name called in the 2015 NBA Draft, Justin Anderson is already receiving praise from his new team’s coach and superstar.

Head coach Rick Carlisle and all-star power forward Dirk Nowitzki both believe Anderson can help the Dallas Mavericks early.

“We’re really happy. We got a chance to draft one of the the strongest kids in the draft, positionally,” said Carlisle at the Mavericks post-draft press conference. “He’s in a good position coming here.”

Nowitzki had a similar opinion of the Montross, Va. native, “he’s got great athleticism, his shot got better in his third year. He just has to work hard and get adjusted quickly.”

Justin Anderson was in Spotsylvania on Saturday to sign autographs and visit with fans. He will head to Las Vegas, NV this week to participate in NBA Summer League for the Dallas Mavericks.
