KITTY HAWK, N.C. (WRIC) — A driver is facing charges after police say he hit a pedestrian and crashed into a home in the Outer Banks Tuesday evening.

Crews were called around 7:15 p.m. to the 4100 block Lindbergh Avenue near Starfish Lane.

Kitty Hawk Police Chief Joel Johnson told Obx Today that the van hit a woman running along the road, then veered off the street that runs parallel to US 158 and NC 12 and hit the front of a home.

Johnson said the female pedestrian had non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, 35-year-old Ryan Walter Beacham, of Kill Devil Hills, was later charged with driving left of center and careless and reckless driving. He may face additional charges pending further investigation.

This comes less than a month after a Hanover County teacher and her husband were hit by a pickup truck and killed while walking along the shoulder of NC 12 near Maynard Street in Kitty Hawk.
