PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A partly decomposed body was found in Petersburg Friday afternoon not far from the home of a man who went missing a few weeks back.

The body was located sometime after 5 p.m. just south of South Gillfield Drive, near Peabody Middle School in Petersburg.

Police say that they have not ruled out that the body could be that of Raymond Parker, the man who went missing from his home on Commerce Street in Petersburg on July 26th.

At the time, 8News reported that Parker was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s disease and had not taken his prescribed medicine that day.

Where the body was found on South Gillfield Drive is less than a mile from where Parker lived.

Police say that they have yet to properly identify the body.
