PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The Department of Public Utilities in Petersburg is urging residents to conserve water after a water main break early Thursday morning.
The water main break prompted an emergency road closure in the 1600 block of S. Sycamore Street between Weyanoke Street and W. Tuckahoe Street to make repairs. The pipe has since been repaired. City officials say pressure will start increasing slowly in that area. Roads are still closed until further notice.
Residents and area businesses were being asked to conserve water due to the severity of the break.8News reporter Ava-joye Burnett is working on this story and will have a full report on 8News at 5.
