Police call attempted abduction at Chesterfield Kroger ‘fairly unusual’

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield Police are investigating an attempted abduction after a woman said two people approached her as she walked to her car Tuesday night.

The suspects grabbed her car door and tried to take her away.

The incident occurred near the front of the Kroger on 7000 Tim Price Way just before 8 p.m.

“It’s sad that we have to see those types of things happening on a day to day basis,” a Kroger shopper said.

The victim told Chesterfield Police they tried to pull her car door open, but she screamed and the suspects ran from the area.

“I’m glad that she thought fast enough to yell and to try to get someone else involved,” Linda Allen said.

8News spoke with Kroger customers who are in disbelief of what happened last night. They say the persons who did this are bold.

Even officers couldn’t believe anyone would do this at such a busy area and time.

“It’s also fairly unusual they were trying to take the vehicle with the young lady in it,” Chesterfield Corporal Craig Eckrich said. “So their motives are still kind of unclear at this point as to what they were actually after.
