RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond International Airport introduced a new app that makes mobile ordering possible for hungry travelers at airport restaurants.
‘Grab,’ the largest e-commerce platform in U.S. airports, enables airport mobile ordering for time-pressed travelers at gate-side concessionaires. Starting Monday, RIC passengers are able to pre-order at a variety of local restaurants for pick-up on the way to or from the gate, including Applebee’s, Caribou Coffee, Sam Adams Brew Pub and more, eliminating hunger pains for travelers on the fly.
Grab lets users explore menus, gauge wait times, place and pre-pay for orders all from their phone (whether in security or taxiing on the tarmac). Best of all, users then skip the line to pick-up their order from a separate to-go counter. the perfect food solution for those running to catch a flight or make a connection in RIC.
“Grab is the ideal partner to launch mobile ordering for our airport restaurants in Richmond,” Kevin Kelly, President of Delaware North Travel Hospitality Services, said in a release. “We have seen great success with the platform in other markets, and look forward to continuing the momentum as we roll-out the service through the rest of the network.”
A spokesperson for RIC added in a release, “It’s the perfect food solution for those running to catch a flight or make a connection in RIC.”Find 8News on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram; send your news tips to iReport8@wric.com.
