RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Keith Balmer is the new General Registrar and Director of Elections for the City of Richmond.
Balmer was sworn in Monday morning. The city electoral board voted to remove Kirk Showalter in February after reporting issues and a COVID-19 outbreak in her office during the November 2020 election.
The board voted to give Balmer the job last month. He’s the first African American General Registrar in Richmond’s history.
