COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities are reiterating to be cautious of phone scammers pretending to be from the Social Security Administration or a law enforcement agency.
The Colonial Heights Police Department (CHPD) said on social media Wednesday that these phone scams are occurring across the U.S.
Senior citizens should especially be informed of these scams, as they are the ones usually preyed upon, police said.
If you answer one of these scam calls, immediately hang up the phone, police advised.
“Always know that you should never be asked to submit money or your personal information over the phone,” CHPD said.
