RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Pictures and videos of a rat inside Armstrong High School have family members worried for students.
“I just can’t believe how big these rats are, they actually look like they’re big cats,” Debra Prater said, reacting to the video. “I live right in front of the school, so who’s to know that they won’t come to my home?”
Prater is concerned that the large rat could carry a disease, thus posing a threat to student safety.
“Who’s to say that the rat won’t bite a student and has all types of germs and diseases and stuff like that,” she explained
School officials tell 8News they’re working to ‘diligently resolve’ the issue, but Prater and other parents are calling for immediate action.
“Somebody has to do something about this soon as possible,” she said. “If they don’t, I will.”
“We are aware of the ongoing facilities challenges at Armstrong High School and are working diligently to resolve them. Our goal is to always provide a safe, welcoming teaching and learning environment in all of our schools and we appreciate the concerned parents, staff, and community members that take the time to notify us when issues like this arise so that we can address it as quickly as possible.” — RPS
