State Police: Tractor-trailer driver found dead on I-95 in Ashland

News

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A portion of Interstate 95 south in Ashland was backed up for miles Wednesday as Virginia State Police conducted a death investigation roughly 10 miles south of Kings Dominion.

Troopers were called to mile marker 91.7, near the Route 54 exit, just after 10 a.m. There they found a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder and the driver dead inside.

An 8News crew on scene reported the front driver-side window appeared shattered, though State Police said the window was not shot out.

Troopers were also spotted walking in and out of the nearby woods, but they say the driver’s death doesn’t appear suspicious.

Several lanes of travel were closed but have since reopened.

The male driver has not yet been identified.
